We have been informed that HUD’s REAC Technical Assistance Center’s (TAC) employees will be laid off effective February 27, 2026.
The REAC-TAC offices support all of HUD’s Secure Systems Subsystems such as APPS, EIV, FASS, NSPIRE, and more. All internal and external Coordinators and Users that access these systems need timely assistance to handle their I.T. ticket requests regarding access, resetting passwords, and troubleshooting issues.
What We Know
- Contractors have been hired to fulfill the duties of the REAC Technical Assistance Center.
- These contractors will officially start March 2, 2026, after the current REAC-TAC team has left. As far as we know, there will not be any overlap or cross-training with current REAC-TAC staff.
- There will be a learning curve as the contractors adjust to the needs of HUD’s internal and external system users.
- After the transition, we expect some delay in services provided, and anticipate the introduction of new policies and procedures from REAC-TAC.
How to Prepare for the Transition
- System Users: If you need a new User ID created or access reset for an existing ID, act now! Financial audit statements are due at the end of March. Auditors and other new employees will need access to HUD’s various online systems.
- APPS Activations: If you have upcoming transactions, make sure your 2530 specialists have access to all new entities and individuals!
- If you have requested activation, and have not received your key code via mail, submit a request to the REAC-TAC help desk.
- At this time, we do not know how the direct activation request process will be affected by this transition.
Harris Affordable Housing Group remains committed to serving our clients and their needs during this transition process. We encourage all clients to provide as much advance transactional notice as possible due to anticipated delays in the activation process. If you have any questions, or need assistance with an upcoming transaction, please contact us at 864-593-0115.
